About the event

The winning pie is the one that rolls the longest distance over the course. As well as the competition, there are various entertainments on the day which include Morris Dancing, music, tours of the church tower and lots more; proceedings begin with the peal of bells at 12.30 in the afternoon. The recipe sheet for the special hard-pastry pies is available from mid May onwards at the Wybunbury Shop on Main Road, and they also stock the entry forms for the competition. There are classes for under 10s, under 16s and adults and pie rolling continues through the afternoon with the results announced around 4.30. The origins of the races lie at least 200 years ago, and the current revival dates back over 20 years when the organisers Wybunbury Tower Preservation Trust brought it back as a fundraiser for the famously leaning church tower, which is all that remains of the ancient church of St Chad.

Helpful Hints

In 2022 it should be on Saturday 11th June.

Parking is usually available at Delves School and near the church – road closures apply during the competition.
